Made in Reykjavík is a collection of outerwear, made entirely of Icelandic wool. By working locally throughout all stages - from material sourcing and design to production process - the aim is to create a sustainable product and to minimise our carbon footprint.

The passion for creating an entirely local produced and sourced product, led the designer to exploring possibilities of 100% Icelandic wool. Having worked closely with local manufacturers and intimately with the fiber, by mixing it with other elements, the material has become familiar and its properties are clear.

While the Icelandic wool is a strong material and tolerant to extremes in weathers and winds, its qualities also include a natural regulating of temperature and breathing. Therefore it seemed logistic to develop textiles suitable for outerwear which can be worn during all Nordic seasons.

The wool is locally sourced and produced in a mill situated on the outskirts of Reykjavík. Within the mill the material is processed from raw wool to yarn, dyed and then developed into suitable form for textile creation.

Colour combinations, knitting techniques and finishings are carefully developed by the designer in her studio together with designing of the final garments. After the transformation of wool into yarn the fabrics are created in a local knitting factory in the heart of Reykjavík, followed by garment construction under the same roof.
